Warehouse Dispatch Engineer

Reports to:

Head of Dispatch


Based out of our workshop in Sherburn in Elmet with regular site visits for initial survey through to final commissioning.

Main purpose of the role

As a Warehouse Engineer you will be mainly based at our head office/warehouse location in Sherburn in Elmet.


You will be primarily responsible for carrying out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) and Quality Checks (QC) on diesel generator sets, making sure they are ready for dispatching worldwide. Supporting the wider teams and assisting with the training and supervision of our apprentices.

Main Duties:
  • Carry out PDI checks on generators

  • Carry out QC checks on generators

  • Liaise closely with YorPower sales team to ensure generators are modified to customer specifications

  • Ensure warehouse is kept in a tidy and organised state

  • Assist in carrying out services and repairs to generator and fire pump sets at customer sites if required

  • Assist with installation works at customer sites if required

  • Assist with commissioning works at customer sites if required

  • Ad hoc tasks within company workshops

  • Attendance at relevant product training courses


Desirable Skills/Attributes:



  • Maths & English - GCSE (or equivalent) grades A-C


  • Some previous mechanical and/or electrical experience is an advantage.

  • A technical/mechanical aptitude is essential.

  • Strong customer service background or aptitude.

  • Sound relationship building skills with the engineering team and service departments.

  • Cross-discipline team working.

  • Can demonstrate the ability to go the extra mile, to exceed expectations.


  • Excellent time management and personal organisational skills.

Depending upon experience and qualifications this role would command a salary of between £12.00 to £14.00 per hour with a guaranteed 40 hour week + overtime, other benefits and an on call allowance.
