PPSPower-sponsored football team strikes 7 in charity match thriller

On Sunday 5th May PPSPower sponsored a charity football game between Gomersal & Cleckheaton FC Dads vs Howden Clough Dads.

Our managing director Stephen Peal was part of the Gomersal & Cleckheaton FC team which took an excellent 7-4 win, a brilliant result following on from the previous contest’s tight 4-5 thriller.

The first half was a closely contested affair finishing with GCFC 2-1 ahead. Phil Davies opened the scoring for GCFC with a screamer of a strike, a possible contender for goal of the season, before Danny McDermott added a second. Howden Clough struck back before half time to make it a tightly-poised second half.

The prolific GCFC U9’s Manager, Tony Emmott, scored the first of his three goals just after the break, and despite a spirited fightback from Howden Clough with several goals they never managed to take the lead. Tony finished off his hattrick before Danny put the game to bed with the 7-4 win, leading to scenes of jubilation at the final whistle.

Following the win, PPSPower’s Stephen Peal said: “It is always a good battle between GCFC and Howden Clough Dads and this was a great result for us. The game was played in good spirits and for a worthy cause, as we raised about £500 for the Under 9’s and this will go towards taking them to a football gala in Blackpool this summer.”

All of the money raised was through a full club community effort with parents running tombola competitions, sweet stalls and hot-dog stands. You can show your support for the GCFC under 9's by clicking on this link: https://www.gofundme.com/gomersalcleckheatonfc
